Active Ankles T2
These not only protect your ankles from hard knocks but their main aim is to stop you twisting said ankles. And they work too!
|
Strengths
These things are very comfortable - so much so that I don't really notice that I'm wearing them. There's no noticable restriction to normal ankle movement while riding.
The velcro straps that wrap round the top of your ankle can be adjusted up and down to accomodate either hi or low top style shoes. Said straps also offer protection from pedal scrapes to the upper ankle area which is a definate plus when riding with caged pedals!
Weaknesses
One of my pair has a slight squeak but appart from that there's no complaints.
Overall
A twisted ankle is a real pain as it'll stop you riding. Anything that can stop that happening has to be a good thing and these are designed to do just that. The idea is that they allow full movement of the ankle but restrict any side to side twisting. this they do very well.
So if you're planning for some unplanned dismounts in hairy terrain (such as MUni or trials riding) wearing Active Ankles can not only save you from twisting an ankle they also give you a greater sense of safety and confidence.
